Time to change bulbs, I've been running my XM 10k SE bulbs for about 15 months now and was wondering if any MR members have tried the SE Reeflux bulbs by Coralvue?
Prior to this tank, I had tried the regular Coralvue 10Ks and hated them. They were more of a 12 to 14k look but very dim.

Was looking for feedback on 250w Reeflux SE 10ks & 12ks. I run Ice Caps which keeps my XMs on the crisp white side vs some yellowing if ran with HQI magnetic ballast.

Reason why I ask about the Reeflux is because I bought some corals from a local reefer a couple of months ago and he was running a bluer bulb and the corals were a deep blue. After getting them into my tank, they never stayed blue and I'm wondering if it's the bulb effect.

W, im a believer of XM 10K's...i had to use the "other" brand for 2 months, and my lps corals wr all reaching for light, and my sps lost color...IMHO, XM's and IC ballasts, great combo.

dont get me wrong the other brand "looks" nicer, not so yelo...but its a trade off for growth and color...

I used them also on my 180 great color BUT the PAR on them are lower then 20k XM's which I dont like. I just swaped mine out there 4 months old. I went with all 20k Radiums and LOVE them its a crisp white not that blue and the colors of my corals look alot better. If you had 400w MH i would of gave you mine to try out

I have the DE 250watts. Only the blueline ballast works well with them. Overall not a big fan.

On a side note, I do like the BLVs.

I just switched from 400W 10K/20K XM to Reeflux using the PFO HQI ballasts. I run 2 reeflux with 1 XM 20K. The reeflux has a slight pink hue to it. People from RC had had issues with those bulbs. Other than the slight pink hue, I am happy with them so far. Still burning them in.

I have one with an IceCap & don't like it.
The corals responded good, but like Dave said......the pinks seemed distorted.
My Eagle eyes, etc., didn't look great.

I have to mention that I am only running 150 watts of VHO, if that makes a difference.

Warren,
My 220 that you saw at the swap ( tank in the front) is lit by 3 250W. 10K Reeflux on Icecaps and actinic VHO's. As you saw, I have no coral growth and all my colors have turned brown. Actually, I am very happy with these lamps. What did you think when you saw it? I suppose my tank just looked sucky to some. But I guess I run a sucky ETS skimmer and use a sucky sandbed too. But what do I know?
