Well, my SECOND Coralife Mini Aqualight died a few hours ago. The first one lasted from May 2011 to about a month ago, my replacement didn't last over a friggin' month!
I think this time I'm going SUPER CHEAP. I've heard of people using those metal domes you can get from Home Depot (the ones that hiiave a metal clamp that you can hang the lamp with) and just sticking a plain old lightbulb inside and being done with it.
My biggest question would be what size and what type of bulb would be best? I grow caulerpa and chaeto in the middle compartment of my Aqueon Proflex Model 3 and need enough light to support that without melting anything.
Would even a very bright LED screw-in bulb be OK? I'm very confused as to the right wattage, type and spectrum.
