the newer Maxi Jet 1200. Marineland (the company that sells the pump) redesigned the pump impeller when they switched manufacturers recently, and this new impeller rattles back and forth if any backpressure is put on the pump, as is the case with our spray injector. The pump isn't manufactured specifically for our skimmers, and we don't sell or stock any of those pumps (they're packed by our distributor), so we had no idea this happened until it was too late. Fortunately, there's a pretty easy fix if you do have this new Maxi Jet 1200. The purple impeller can be glued to the white plastic part of the magnet assembly using non-toxic Super Glue (just the regular stuff you'd find at any store), preventing it from rattling back and forth. Good alternative pumps are the Cobalt Aquatics MJ 1200 and the Rio 1000. I've also talked to a customer who contacted Marineland directly and they sent him the old style impeller, so that's another option...
