Rio 3100 return Pump better than MAG?

So as I was transferring my tank and performing maintenance on the MAG 9.5 a screw broke. I decided to replace the pump with a similar pump. The LFS (Pet Goods) stated a RIO 3100 gives the same output as the MAG9 and is cheaper. I bought it and I noticed my water level appears to be lower then with the MAG 9.5. My filter is filtering I don't have any issues but I notice the water level lowering then my existing setup. What do you think? I attached my water level and the return pump outlet.
