does anyone know a better way to attach the filter sock besides zip ties?

the youtube one with the 4" pvc fitting is great but the only thing i would think of doing is pvc gluing a piece of pvc inside after the slit on the inside of the tank side so you are 100% sure no water would come out in that area at all..

I have seen these in service and I think this is the best way to use filter socks. You don't have to shut down the return pump to change them. And you could retrofit your sump to add this. If you are skilled with acrylic and have the tools.

I had one of those sumps- a model 2 on my old 65G that I sold to anothewr member. That sump was dead silent and like Imbarrie said the socks were easy to change to where you can leave the return pump on when changing. If you can work something like that into yours you'd love it. That I guarantee.

I am mimicking it now with a large sock on my new sump.
Its a 75 gallon sump so I have heaps of space. Ill throw some pics up but wont be finished for another week.
If you raise the outlet portion higher then it will be even quieter.
