Not true, they like light but not too much flow. Also, rbta like to move around until they find a good spot. It is hiding now but will come out when it is ready. Most likey did not eat your shrimp, they like fish. Your tank is looking good.

Good luck,

beef,

The shrimp most likely is just molting and hiding until the shell is hard. In general, if a shrimp is eaten, the shell will not be intact. If the shell you see is broken from the back of the the nexk WHILE all legs and claws ... ade intact-it's molting. Depends on the conditions of your water and inhabitants in the tank. The shell will stay intact for couple days.

If you see the shell broken here and there in the second day you got it with SOME flesh inside it. It is eatened.

Since you say, you only see the skin, so I assume there is no flesh in it and thus I would say you are ok. Gie it couple days or even up to a week in some odd cases.

My frag tank you saw has both the green carpet, gbta and lots of cleaner shrimps and the anemone never eat any of my shrimps nor even fish. They always try to eat my net though everytime I put my it in to catch a fish or shrimp :thrash: :bablefish :shocked1:

Here is a pic of the molted shell. The anemone probably thinks it's food but after swallowing the whole in and expell right the way upon finding no flesh inside.

Note even the tentacles are intact!!!

How did you acclimate the shrimp and for how long?

about 1.5 hours, i just leave the bag in my tank and add some the tank water into the bag every20 minutes or so. hope the shrimp is just molted, i only saw a piece of shell, its been 4 days already, i hav'nt see the shrimp yet.

Place a pinch of food in the tank after the lights are out. That's the best time to search for a newly acclimated cleaner shrimp :lobster:

This might be okay for fish but for shrimps they are very sensitive. I've lost two cleaners before because i didn't acclimate correctly. Best way is to check the salinity in your tank and the salinity in the bag and slowly drip until the salinity matches to be safe.

But sounds like your shrimp just molted, let us know if he turns up.

The hermits could attack the shrimp. The small blue leg hermits can be pretty aggressive. The Blue damsel probably not. It's probably still alive in the tank as if it was dead you would see pieces of it and the hermits would be all in one area going through the remains.
