hi m/r i am have decided to redo my tank since i can't fight green hair algae anymore. i am planing to take out live rock from my tank and clean it with bleach and let it sit in bucket bull of water and then cycle it again and i want to take sand out completely and introduce new sand and clean out fuge completely. question that i have are listed below.

1. while i am doing this can i keep my live stock and corals in the tank ?

2. once i cycle my live rock again can i just add it to my tank whithout raising amonia and nitrites?

redo

what if i wash it in fresh water and use wire brush to take off all the algae and then put it in the hot water basically kill it completely and then make it lie again. cooking rock is long process....
I wouldn't clean the rock with bleach if any get stuck on the rock you will wipe out your whole tank. if its that big of a problem you can dry it out clean it and cure it. Or you can try to cook the rock http://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/330445/cooking-live-rock.

gha

its bad and out of controll i have tried and wasted so much money for gfo, phosphate sponge, water changes it all started after my tank crashed and all live stock died and after that it went down hill. i just dont want to see ghaanymore . but if i take rock out and re-indroduce the rock again after cooking it my live stock will be safe in the tank or they will get effected ?
the problem is that the phosphates are in the rock and you need to get them out so just scrubbing it is not going to take care of the problem. i dont know how bad the problem in=s or what you have already tried?
