Any Deltec owners out there? How do you feel about your Deltec skimmer? I have only heard good things, but after owning one I have doubts, at least when compared to what they charge.

Nope, I am not gravity feeding it, only because I have observed some unusual reactions from the skimmer at times. I have a rio running about 200gph on a gate valve, so I would estimate output to be at least 160gph.

When I siphon out my tank & turkey blast the rocks, the skimmer kinda goes nuts (which is to be expected I guess?). It gets to the point where it spews out water from the top of the skimmer, luckily I have it in my sump. I am just wondering about the folks who have it running externally. Lets just say you have an unusual event (i.e. spawning) while at work, which would cause the skimmer to misbehave. Does an ER do the same?

I have concluded that the Deltec is a good skimmer & have never seen anyone say anything bad about them. I am just trying to convince myself that I have the best. I will tell you this much, I had a remora C skimmer running side-by-side & the remora stopped producing skimmate. Down to nothing- to the point where I disconnected it.

I wonder how a ER would compare?

BTW, I too have the AP600.
Also, love the small footprint & low energy consumption. Acrylic is of the cheaper kind, but damn great build considering this.

Well, all I have to do on my end is turn the gate valve to alleviate any problems, but I have to be there & observe any possible issues to do this. I just may direct plumb the overflow into the gatevalve & see how it goes.

Reefoman, I can save you some candy cane, just let me know how many pieces you want. We can meet this weekend sometime, it's a three day weekend & I should have some time.

Yes, that is what I hear from just about all the Deltec owners. I guess it must be me then, because I can only compare it to the Remora Pro & assume there is something better out there.

I will say overall it's pretty darn quiet, energy efficient, & stable when the tank is not distrubed. After a feeding you can see the rults of the skimmer working overtime. The cup size of the AP600 is a joke, but it does produce some dark & SMELLY skimmate (nothing like the remora).

Holly &*#$()*^)$&*)_#*
Price: $1,679.00 for the AP702!!!!
For that price it better be a winner, clean itself & the dishes to.

I bought mine in Feb., from someone who bought it from Doug.

Hey do you guys want to do a run your skimmer for 24hrs & post some skimmer cup/skimmate shots in here? Might be a good idea for us to get an idea of where we stand relative to each other.

I see you are running the skimmer a littler wetter. How often do you clean the neck & cup and when you do, does it make a big difference in the amount of skimmate you get?
