I ended up going out and purchasing an Aqua Medic cal reactor... and a tunze co2 regulator...

Now just have to get a co2 tank and a bubble counter...
and I don't know if this is needed... but will I be needing a PH controller?
I am sure I will be needing a sensor for my tank itself... but is it really needed for reading/controlling PH within the reactor?

Its alot safer to run your cal off a controller. its not needed but it protects you from your alk getting to high. i for one would never run my calcium reactor without one. its alright if you want to hook up a ph monitor to get it set but you will need something to protect your tank in case
