Thx

I have a almost new 1500 watt powerdrive converter for sale. I no long drive over the road and need it anymore. I barely used it and $100 takes it.

Continuous AC power output: 1500 watts; Maximum AC power output (surge): 3000 watts
Converts 12-volt DC power from your vehicle battery to 110-volt AC power
Three 3-prong AC outlets and USB port with 5 volts DC output
Heavy-duty installation cable attaches directly to vehicle battery
High/low voltage protection; over temp and overload protection <!-- imgList = new Array("http://images.craigslist.org/5E25H85J13K53Mb3Lac4n7aa02e8509b21dc0.jpg","http://images.craigslist.org/5Nd5G25M13Id3Fd3J8c4nfeaa47c3c4961b43.jpg"); // -->

I would just save and get a generator that's meant to run for days at a time. It's not good for your vehicle to idle for hours upon hours.

Buy the appliance that fits the task. Chances are you won't just lose power once.

Just buy a generator, have an electrician put in a switch box and be totally prepared. You can size your generator to also power your fridge and a/c. It'll pay for itself 10X over it's life.

I'm just not a fan of inverters for use in anything other than powering some stuff at a campsite or jobsite.

+1

Unless you have other uses for an inverter of that size than it's not that practical. If you have a diesel vehicle than that could make a difference as many of them are designed to idle and a diesel can take the strain of an inverter with ease.

But it will bail you out if you're just using it for small periods of time every few hours OR using it to charge up battery backups.

from my expirence with inverts do not go over 100 watts using your car

usually your cigarette lighter can handle 400w.

If you need more than that than a bigger inverter is hooked up directly to the battery and if you need a really big one than I think people sometimes add an additional alternator and battery but I'm not sure on that one.

There are better solutions, like a small generator to keep a few things running in your tank during a power outage.

Keep in mind that in using a vehilce to recharge devices can be a problem during a power outage as gas stations will not be able to pump gas, so at some point you will run out of power :(

I just have to ask this ...you have 600W of heaters on a 75G tank??
