It should be fine. The only thing I can think of that may be a problem is if suction cups holding the heater slips and it somehow touches the side of the acrylic. You might run the risk of melting the acrylic thus causing a flood. I, however, had my heater in a sump much like your and never ran into that problem. Just my $0.02.
