losing a frag... literally

I bought a one polyp zoa frag from a store a few days ago. The zoa opened up nicely and the frag plug has been sitting in the sandbed. I came home yesterday and noticed that the polyp was no longer there. The rock rubble/epoxy/plug were all still intact so it looked like only the zoa came off.

I coudn't find it anywhere in the tank and it probably got blown off into some inaccessable area. I have many other zoas and no issues of critters eating them so i'm pretty sure this one just came loose on its own. I also have very low flow in the tank.

My only thought was "well there goes 25 bucks." :tired: Would the store/vendor be able to do anything at this point or is this strictly my fault?

Things happen. I've had polyps reattach on live rock and form mini colonies behind the tank. Don't think you can blame the store for this one.

store not at fault in time u will end up finding a mini colony on a rock somewhere

Or that paticular pollop didnt like your water and melted. After it's in your tank- your responsibility.

+1 I rescaped the other day and found 3 different zoas in between rocks I thought were long gone

+1 had 1 polyp of devils armor fall of a plug and when i re did my aquascape i found a large colony behind my tank.
