Solid acrylic to hang AI sol blue light?

I've seen some people use electrical conduit to make a DIY light hanging system (attached to the back of the tank/stand and bent to support the light)

Would acrylic rod work for this as well? I realize you'd have to heat the rod in order for it to bend, but how sturdy is this stuff?

I personally would not trust acrylic rod for that application.
