How do you frag this coral? Every time I have tried to frag a Fiji yellow leather (sarcophyton elegans), the frags never make it, and the mother colony seems to respond very poorly. The edges of the cut tissue often necrose and disintegrate. I have even had a mother colony die from a simple pizza wedge fragmentation. None of the other corals I have kept over the last 10 years have behaved this way, from mushrooms to acropora.

Thanks!

Well I know what you are saying because it happens twice to me where mother colony or frags did not make it. On my third attempt I purchased this coral And did not touch It for for all most a year. Once the coral got settled I did the first cut and dropped the frag in a container with ruble in a low flow area in the same tank where the mother colony was. That was it. Natural settlement. The two previous time I tried the rubber band and the toothpick approach and did not work with this type of leather.
I hope this help
