How and what to lure a missing Red lope slider turtle inside a house.

I put him in the rest room try to clean the tank and the phone rang. It took couple minutes to finish the phone but the turtle is nowhere to be found. Anyone has an idea what to do. What food will he eats if is not coming out??? I don't want him to die of hunger.
I placed his regular food in the living room, rest room and still no luck-has not seen him for 2 days..

look in anyplace dark - my mother keeps two red-eared sliders at home and whenever we let them roam the room they always head to the darkest place possible gon't know why since they like to sun themselves...guess its just instinct.

If it's a water turtle, they will not eat outside of water, so it really can't be lured in with food. Turtles can go for extended periods of time without eating (months), so starvation really isn't an issue. It will probably look for a source of water. Check around the basement by your water main. It may also move to a source of heat... hot water heater/boiler. Good luck.

Thanks

I should have walk out of the house yet.

Forgot it can stay for months without eating. (My memory is getting really bad lately) I have them, when I was like 5, roaming the whole house and forgot about they habits.

That makes me feel better now. It should survive for months before it find himself comfortable to come out. I will put water ont he ground for him in the mean time.

Yeah, put out a tub of water for it, it will be looking for water a lot sooner than it looks for food. They won't starve, but its not healthy for them to dry out. That being said, I have yet to find anything that can kill a red-eared slider.. mine is nearly 30 years old and apparrently eternal.

Hmm, I guess mine is about a foot.. He pretty much stopped growing after year 20.. Its pretty remarkable that he's lived this long, considering I had him in a tiny 10 gallon with no filtration for the first 12 years I had him.

<sigh> the things I ignore thrive, and the things I pay constant attention to die within weeks.

Way more hiding places than your house. It can climb at least 4 inches of a ridge where I put him.

But anyway, it was crawling to me when I look at my birds moments ago. He must be asking for water or food. Hahaha

Thanks for everyone's kind concern.

glad u found the little guy. :spin:
I was gonna suggest u look in the bathroom. People in HK usually keeps them there.

Back in HK, we keep them roaming in the whole house but just the food is in the kitchen so they will go over there to eat. Remember those WET kitchen and rest room floors in the the old buildings there? They laid eggs under my bed all the times but hardly any hatches.
