Does RO/DI water go "bad"

setup my rodi system with a auto shut off valve to give me a constant 25 gallons of rodi water but realized I'm only going to need it once a month to mix up a batch of salt water for water change. Will be doing abut 5 gallons a week for an RSM130.
So got me thinking can/will RO/DI water stored in a plastic container go "bad"?

Also have the same question for salt water.....you guys let your water sit around for long periods of time?

yes.. it can stagnate like any other water if left alone too long.

I dunno how big of a holding tank you have but you can use a small pump/powerhead at the bottom facing straight up lightly disturbing the surface or an airstone to keep it circulating.

You can even put the pump on a timer so it only runs for a few minutes every hour or so to save on electric.

what do mean by long term?

In all honesty, I've never made more than I can use in a week so I really don't have a clue as to how long it stays good. With all the tanks that I have no, I go thru it fairly quickly and have to make water everyday.

Keep in mind if you use an airstone, depending on what type of cover the container has, as the water bubbles & pops and gets on the cover, the water can drip out onto your floor as in the case with some plastic garbage cans becasue the lids overlap the outside of the can.

I take it you're buying it and stocking it because you don't have your own Ro/di system?

Right now I have a 10 gallon nano but just bought a RSM130d that I am upgrading too. Currently make about 5 gallon batches that last me a month.
With the rsm1230 figure I need about 5 times that for my weekly water changes. Only want to make water once a month so came up the the 2 tank setup below. Bottom tank is rodi water with an auto shut off value. Top tank will be salt water. Idea is to rig up a pump from bottom tank to top one for when I make water.
I guess I could turn off the rodi unit till the day before I need ot make water for changes or top off but was going for the more automated route.

If I stick a small maxi jet in the top tank (salt water) with a timer that runs for 20 miutes once a day and then another pump in the bottom with a tube that comes back in (but can be removed to get water to to top) that also runs for 20 minutes a day do you guys think I'll be good and avoid water quality issues?
Do you guys all make water weekly? (I can't be the only lazy one)

I know someone will ask....that faucet is not copper.....it's gold colored plastic.

I don't have a clue about having water for that long. I go few a few hundred gallons a week and even when it was just my personal DT's I still went thru 70-100 gallons a week. Someone else would have to answer your question as to how much time your water would be good for but imo it is too long a period of time.

Like you, I like to make a bunch of water and store it. Right now I'm making about 15 gallons at a time and it lasts me about 2 weeks. 4 gallons go towards a water change every 2 weeks and the other 11 towards top off. I think 2 weeks is fine, but I rinsed and wipe my water container each time it's empty so there's no build up of anything.

I'm sure those bottled Poland spring water sit on shelves for a while...and we still drink them.

I've made 10 gal of rodi and didn't use it til about a month. I had them in 2 5 gallon jugs with a cap on it.

I would think its just fine as long as its being airated! Hopefully jarett shark will chime in he has similar rodi storage/ set up! I wouldn't worry about it throw an air stone in there call it a day!
