Anyone see anything wrong with this

As many of you know i am battling with AEFW. Not a major infestation but have them none the less. Ive started zeo flatstop and i have been basting with tank water. I talked with Joe from Atlantis and he said i should baste with fresh water it stuns them and they release from the Acro alot easier. I know to make my 5 gallons of salt water for my system i use a little under 2 1/2 cups to get a 1.025 salinity. Would it be a problem when doing water changes to still use 2 1/2 cups in 2 1/2 gallons of water put that water in then use fresh 2 1/2 gallons of fresh ro/di to baste my corals. will a high salinity going into the tank for lets say 5 minutes before a baste be a problem. I plan on using a powerhead to baste my acros so the water will go in pretty quick. Hope i said this in a way you guys understand

With such a small volume, 2 1/2 gal out of 92gal tank, I wouldn't worry about it too much, as it shouldn't have that much of an effect on the SG or the corals.

When I do large water charges on my big fish tank I do something very similar. I mix a high concentration of salt and then add it and fresh water at the same time, usually adding all the concentrated water first.

I was at Aquarium Village on Wednesday when they were getting a shipment. They got in a flatworm eating nudibranch. Not sure if it works or not but may help

I wouldn't add the salt to the tank first. That will raise your sg, then when I add the water over time it would just bring it down. I would just baste with ro water and maybe turn of you ato for the day. Also u should get a firefish or something that will eat the flatworms while u baste the corals.

the nudi you are saying does not hunt down and eat AEFW they eat planaria. they cannot see the AEFW unless its crawling off the acro and onto a rock. I was thinking of getting one but after the reading i did on them there not worth it and are very sensitive. If it cant find enough of the worms on the rock it will die. Flatworms are the only thing they eat. Thanks marone im going to try it i have not much to lose

have you thought abt pulling the coral and dipping in bayer home bug killer with germ control? i use it, and it works better than anything on the market that ive used...

No i never thought of that ..thanks after all the research i did i didnt see that anywhere LOL only kidding bro. i have no way of taking the corals out im dealing with a back injury. im going to try a all in tank treatment for the next 3 months. i was only joking with the first sentence bro

just a thought... i know not alot of people have talked abt it on this site but its unbelievable how well it works.. but i think th eonly in tank system is the zeo stuff and its only been out a short time and i love the zeo line but something meant to kill suff and not everything kinda scares me when it comes to expensive corals.. id rather break it down somewhat and dip the coral and the rocks theyre on in a 10-20 gallon tank for 10 min then re-place the rocks and coral.. but if your delaing with an injury it can be rough..

Just curious but what makes the bayer better than say revive? Revive works well at killing actual AEFW.

well i tried 5ml of the bayer in 1 cup of water on a adult AEFW the other day and it took 25 minutes for the AEFW to die so im not sure how well it works either. I dipped a coral in Coral rx and the AEFW was dead in 5

I don't think the salinity is problem for that short period of time, but I will say that using a
powerhead to blast flatworms off the corals is less effective IME ( and I have a lot of experience unfortunately) than using an actual turkey baster. The random "blast" from pulsing the bulb knocks them off very effectively while they seem to be able to adjust to the constant stream from a powerhead.

its not really about the pressure of the powerhead its more for the fresh ro/di water stunning them and knocking them off i believe is what joe meant

OK so i think im in it to deep and im going to need some help. i just took out a yellow mille that wasnt looking good and it was INFESTED. Basting every day and this Flatstop is not working to well and some of my acros are dying. i have a 10 gallon frag tank and i have a 10 gallon tank i could use as a sump along with a return pump but im going to need a light. any help tomorrow or this week will be appreciated this sucks so bad
