New reef setup for dummies by a dummie!!

I just got the courage I do my own plumbing and start my reef tank up all by myself .

A few months back I found out that a good friend of mine was upgrading and had a 57 rimless to spare and I got in on the deal! So I built m own sump at a cost of 70 something bucks!

Now I got all my PVC piping at my local lowes and I got two big 30 gal bins to swing my livestock around and all the 3/4 slip fittings I needed and a few other items for a grand total of 63 bucks and change.

Using Oateys rain -r- shine PVC cement I sealed My joint and made my return stem with ball valve and it came out pretty good so I took pics for all the new people to see and for a few of the pros to laugh at lol .

I did this all by myself while watching my 4 yo son lol needless to say my arms are killing me , but it took 7 hrs total .
This thread is dedicated to 3 guys who provided answers and details and great help at all hrs of the day and night ...... To Alex , kenconnect, and rkaragozler who made it possible through wisdom and encouragement for me to do my first real build.

Thanks guys , i am moving all the rock today but in this whole transition i lost my mystery wrasse and i didnt wanna put more stress on the fish yesterday i wanted to give em a break

nice bro congrats. but isnt that blue stuff supposed to go on b4 u put the pvc?

Yeah i did it before and took it apart then i sealed it all with the blue cement , it takes like 15 minutes to dry but in my case it had 6 and a half hrs , but the cement you do see is what squeezed out from the pvc , i wanted to be sure i was water tight all around ya know, no drips or messes

I have never seen that blue glue. I have always uses standard PVC cleaner and cement.

The only thing that I didn't notice is if you used teflon tape on the threaded joints?

Thirty five , i used slip joints , the only threaded part i have is the 3/4 joint that attatches the the return pump
