Hi all,

I recently bought a used acrylic tank that might have been cleaned with Windex. I read somewhere that this is a Huge mistake because the chemicals in the Windex could cause the acrylic to crack and eventually fail. Is there anyone out there that can help me with information regarding the effects of Windex on an acrylic tank. Does anyone use Windex on their acrylic tank?

Thanks in advance for your time.

it is my understanding, that Windex and other chemical cleaners can craze not crack the acrylic. Crazing ruins the clarity of the acrylic...it may even turn it yellow.
Do you see a problem? If not, just don't use Windex again.

+1. Over time is causes microscopic surface checking looking like a haze. Novus plastic polish or a non ammonia based glass cleaner is your best choice.
