Hello,
I am currently working on a project where I am trying to create really violent water movement or even waves in a 55 gallon tank (don't worry, there are no animals in the tank, just water).
I currently have a 1500gph pump in the tank which i thought would create a lot of movement, and although it does a fine job circulating the water, however does not really break the surface.
Ideally I would like something that turns the water into raging rapids, or fills it with very violent waves that almost splash out of the tank.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to how to achieve this... preferably on the cheap... but am also open to more expensive solutions if necessary.
As far as waves are concerned, I was very impressed with this example, but am not really sure how these work exactly and they also seem extremely expensive.

I don't really care how the equipment/solution looks at all and am open to diy solutions, just trying to really make this water move on the cheap. Someone suggested I look into submersible motors but am not really sure where to start with that in nyc. I would also love to hear if there are any out-of-the-box solutions using motor boat parts or something that would allow me to achieve this.
Thanks!
