I read somewhere that they clean out all the old subways cars of oil and any chemicals that might be harmful (yeah right).

shouldn't cause too much damage even if it oxidizes, the ocean is the world's biggest buffer systems. And besides with all the other crap people dump in there and natural run offs, a sunken ship is least of their worries ;)

Just a question ,isnt that poluiton ? why is the US allow to polute the waters?

Now if I wanted to blow up my boat in the ocean ,will i get arrested?
Also wouldnt it be better for the US to turn into a cite seeing ship ? JMO ,I dint watch the whole thing ,Im late for work

the nyc subway cars auctally the old 4&5 irt trains were sunk off the coast of nj. as far as rust no problem the ocean can handle it. they have showed pics of the subway cars on the discovery channel never guess i use to take that to work in the morning looks cool under water hell of alot cleaner now that mother has taken over

All sunken ships gets cleaned well and had most of the wirings, oil residues, flammable items and all the sharp edges removed before it is sunken as artificial reef. The Navy don't want to get suit by the divers who will use it. I have dived a few ships down in Florida in the past, they are really cool to swim thru.
