Just wondering if anyone knows if the data cable is interchangable with a regular cable that looks the same or is it a special kind of cable? Need one that's a bit longer.. thanks..

I would get a decent replacement cable. Don't go for the .99 from ebay

Radio Shack ones are fine IMO
