Never had a problem yet. But it is true that the Ca is low and needs to be reconstituted upwards. As for their claims about really high Ca (did I read it right?) I think it may just be a bad batch.

Did you guys hear also about the Kent problems?

I don't understand why it would have taken him so long to figure out that it was the salt and not some thing else. Outside of dosing a 2-part the only other things could be the water or the salt. If he had a reading of 700-900 ppm in cal he should have check everything right away. It could have been a bad batch but unless he never check his level or did very large water changes he should have seen the levels increasing.

Not to say this couldn't happen but the guy only got 6 posts and if he was having problems for all that time why didn't he post about it on RC, he's been on RC since 5/2004.

Mike, RHF mentioned about his 6 posts also. I was very leery about it myself. I felt a heads up to everyone to at least be aware was in order.

Then there was the one other guy that seemed to have no affiliation with Tex sort of coroborate his claim.

The inconsistency of Ca in IO is a cause for concern though. If some people are getting batches in the mid 200 range and others in the mid 300's, that doesn't bode well for stability.

Russ it's good to let people know as you never know.

Unfortunily on RC you get a lot of people posting bad things against some products that a lot of times aren't true and it turns out the person works for another company or wants to get back at the company selling the product for some reason. So you need to take posts on RC with a grain of salt some times ;)

A lot of the salts do have problems with low or inconsistency cal levels and the consistance between batch to batch can vary. That why it good to check you levels right after you do water changes and check the salt from time to time.

You know Mike, I absolutely agree. Part of my problem is I always try to look at people as being good. Especially in a close knit group/hobby that we all share. Part of the naievity I've been so reluctant to let go of in my old age.

There always seems to be something wrong with synthetic salts. The fact of the matter is that there is no one salt that is perfect. So therefore no matter what salt you buy there will always be something not right. The trick is to check it beforehand and make adjustments. I have tried quite a few brands myself, the last being tropic marin pro. I am going back to IO since that's what i started out with and never had a problem. I will be sure to check it beforehand. Take it with a grain of salt, lol.
