Dosing or no dosing??

Some say that a good water change schedule can replenish the elements of our aquariums water ! If this is so , why have so many of us reefers turned to chemical additives and solutions to keep our aqutic world in harmony?

What was reef keeping like before esv and kent or brightwell solutions became main stream???

Do you dose or not??

i have been dosing my nano for years. i have dosing pumps and all. recently i started thinking that i didnt need all this and i turned all dosing off. my levels started going down daily. I turn dosing back on! lol. i dont know how members keep levels stable without dosing. water changes arent enough for a nano, i cant imagine its fine for a large tank. Levels are stable to the t with dosing

Yeah this is what alot of us go through but i have seen tanks with canister filters and owners who refuse to change the water who say ( i dont see anyone in the ocean doing water changes lol) how do these individuals do it? Lol sheer luck or, are they secretly dosing????

i met a fellow mr member who told me he hasnt done a water change in over 6 months! and his tank looked good!!! lol

i think people who dose need to cus the corals they have in their tank absorb so much calcium and other stuff that a weekly water change isnt enough thus the reason why they dose. as for doing no water changes they must dose.

I've been in this hobby since 2000, I used ESV 2 part back then,... no idea what it was like before that. Cool question. I think Bob Stark (esv) and the rest of the NY reef mafia were among the pioneers of keeping corals alive and thriving and eventually growing in this hobby.

I started dosing a few months ago. Can definitely tell a difference in sps color, health, and growth rate with dosing 2 part.

I started dosing two part and I'm about two weeks in and adjusting my levels.

I actually have all the supplies to start to does. I just need to test to get baselines.. I am going to start with manual dosing, then move to pumps since I already have Apex, might as well put it to good use..
