yes they're garbage all of the corals look like they're dying
Who is really rating the stores????
From my observation the people who give the NYC stores there rating are not the same as the people who actively participate with MR (ie chat rooms and advice)
They generally make comparisons to Internet venders and not on the individual quality of the retail store.

i personaly love reef fantasy they also just re did there corals section got some sweet stuff in the other night i got some lords and blastos from there

wats the name of the store on 12th ave and 6oth st.? I cant see spending $9 to cross the bridge to get to reef fantasy when thrs a couple nice places here in brooklyn. Sean's place for 1, which i prefer... and I found a decent place on utica ave called island aquatics, nice tanks, large selection fish and corals. I think the thing is, YOU have to go to these place to see for yourself, one persons apple is another persons orange.
I'm not going to rate other stores
and I'm not rating my own
and I don't disagree with a lot of the ratings (I like Chris's store, Reef Fantasy)

i agree with slamajama with the $9 toll...
i just can't see myself going to there when theres plenty of other sources that i can go without tolls
i think the one on utica ave is 1000 island ? they have huge tanks and nice things but it's on the expensive side in price on most things...

great prices - they really have specials.. for example: algae blennies $6.99 is the one i'll always remember plus the one i brought been in my tank for more than 6 months and happy, well at least i think it is
huge variety - new shipments on mondays and thursdays... as you can see me there on most thursdays

i was thr yesterday (Aq Sol), bought some reef salt nice place. But as far as rating someplace, I dont feel I have enough experience in this hobby to rate a store, everyone has a different prefrence/experience on what makes that LFS good to them.

o btw whr is fishtown?
personally i think 1000 island aquariuams sucks. how can they charge the prices they charge and still expect to stay in business. i once asked for a bag of calupera, and she had the nerve to charge me 45 bucks. at the same time i asked if my kid can use the bathroom, she flat out said no.
For the average customer, price is definitely the most important, thats why i choose fishtown. Fish expo has the nice quality, but is far too expensive. as for brooklyn zoo and aquarium, they have rediculous prices and poor quality. try $45 dollars for a fire shrimp. Sometimes i dont think these people really have a clue as to what market prices are out there.

oh btw...i was thinking how great would it be if there was a Manhattan Reefs LFS that took all the imputs of all the reefers and made the perfect LFS...although i know if would never happen (too many variables involved) it is a pretty cool concept.

wow, everyone seems to like fish town a lot. Maybe I dont like it anymore since i live like 2 blocks away I been there too much. They do have the cheapest prices, New hyde park pets have a 25% off all fish for the longest while now. Aquarium adventure I think has the nices setup and is the biggest only prob is they = $$
