exp w/ MTC 250 skimmer

friends letting me borrow his MTC 250 skimer (HSA) for a while and I can't seem to get the damn thing tuned right.

I get this annoying sucking sound from the air valve, the water level kinda bobs up and down w/ it.

not a lot of foam is produced- but tons of bubbles inside the skimmer

is this normal?

how high should my water level be inside the skimmer?

THe website doesnt have the mannual upload, wondering if anyone here has exp w/ this skimmer.

can you give a little more detail i had this skimmer for a couple of years. what type of pump, inside of sump or out, last time beckett was cleaned etc. it is a beckett and it does need some fine tuning

its the MTC 250- comes w/ the suggested pump SEN 700, The whole unit is in my sump.

does the water level where the skimmer is stay at a constant level the beckett is the device that is producing the bubbles. it is on the 3/4" line with the two unions

At first, I wasn';t getting enouugh bubbles, at full open, u could still see through the skimmer. I cleaned the buckett out and it produced a lot more bubbles, now I can't see through the skimmer. The one problem is the beckett makes a gurggling sound, the water level stays up at the bottom of the cup, after the grey coupling. (it moves up and down w/ the sound of the gurggling, but only slightly.

I mean it could be working at this point, but i'm not getting any foam. At least not what I'm sure to with other skimmers.

try to drop that level down below the grey union

i noticed in fishtown they have airpumps attached to it, will that make it more effective?
