But my sailfin tang was just scooped out of my qt tank!

I'm pissed. The fish has been in qt for 4 weeks or so and has been eating pellets, frozen, macro algae, without any issues. The only i tried to feed that it didn't eat was freeze dried krill, but i figured I would try just to see ( that was early in qt)

It's a 15 g qt, used water from main tank to do wc weekly, id guess. 5 to 7 gallons at a time. Levels are stable, same as main display. Even the temp was same. Reading of temp when i took out was 77.5. I'd say im lucky with weather we have had that its that low. Salinity 1.25

I guess it doesn't matter why, I'm just venting. It was doing really well and was getting moved to main tank next week sometime

Had 3 large PVC joints in tank for. Hiding and it really was active fish.

Sorry for your loss.
You never know what methods were used in collecting a fish that might impact it a short time down the road, or if there is an internal issue that we have no way to know about.

This is precisely the reason you want to QT any new additions. Much better for this to have happened in your QT than in your DT and worry whether or not your established critters were exposed to whatever might have taken out your sailfin.

Believe it or not, this was a good thing! Not losing the fish, but the way it went down.

Yea. Your def. Right Russ, good thing i listened to Anthony (thirty5)and set it up i was not sold on it but then he had an issue few months ago so qt was a must.

I've never been much of a gambler and this hobby CHANGED all of that =)

I don't play the lotto, don't play poker or even slots but every piece of livestock is a roll of the dice to say the least.

All we can do is do our best and hope for the best in return. What meds did you have on hand for your QT? PraziPro is great to use even if you don't see anything wrong for worms and other issues.

i didnt put anything in as far as meds go. had it set up as basic qt, filter, heater, pvc. i did use prime, not sure thats a med though. i didnt want to mask any issues the fish may have had with medicating it/treating it just because. Maybe i need to evaluate the way i was doing the qt. I was watching the fish and was happy with the activity and feeding, especially the various food the fish was eating. in the end it is better this happened in the qt not the main tank.
