Not saying that HOB boxes are bad, but it is absolutely imperative to check all suction tubes and etc at least once a week. (The tubes that are connected to an air pump such as Aqua Lifter). I get home yesterday, and was seriously scared but relieved at the same time. The output tube of my suction pump apparently got coraline and other precipitate growing inside of it to the point where the tube got clogged and there was no output of water going from the other end of the aqua lifter. The water level was about 1/8 of an inch under the rim, but did not overflow. Thankfully, I have a fail safe system as to where the water level in the tank will get high, but will never overflow. This system prooved successful yesterday. I have a airline tube that is T shaped, in case something ever did go wrong with one suction pump, the backup pump will still pull water. The overflow gph from the tank to sump is diminished by about 60% when the fail safe is turned on, but hey, at least its not a flood all over the place. I can post some pics later, but its a great and inexpensive fail safe idea for all of you with HOB overflows.
