I have a red chili soft coral in my tank and i was just wondering if anybody knew anything about it? And info is appreciated, also does it go by any other name?
It is not a photosynthtic coral and thus needs to be fed (try Cyclop-eeze; phytoplankton doesn't help) at night. Prefers shade and should be mounted "upside down". Good luck.
yea i saw the second link after i sent the comment back. Sorry and thanx alot, man ur just my number one source for all my questions today huh :splitspin
Lighting: Low to Moderate -Florescent bulbs, Power Compacts, V.H.O bulbs are recommended. Water Flow: Moderate to High. Placement: Place this coral in a dim lighted area. Reef Supplements: Thrives with additions of Phytoplankton, Calcium, iodine and trace elements. Ease of Keeping: Moderate Difficult. Special Needs: Keep Calcium levels-(350ppm-450ppm) and Alkalinity levels-(2.5meq/l or dKH 7-8) This coral grows faster with frequent feedings of phytoplankton, and nauplii of brine shrimp.

I've had this Chili in my tank for a few months now.
He's under an overhang, upside down.
I feed him about twice a week, directly. Other times I'm sure he just eats whatever he catches in the water column.
He's grown about 25% since I got him.
Great coral to fill that dark, empty space........if you're prepared to spot feed him.
