folks - i'm moving to the UWS in a week - and would love to put a nice sw tank in my office upstairs. Few questions for the pros thou. Has anyone used the Red Sea Max 250? Seems like a nice all in one for a starter reef, decent size (66g) - and would be good for entry corals along w/ LR and fish.

That being said - are there any good places in NYC to get fish/lr/corals and other supplies? Also - any reccomendations on some starter corals for me? I've had 2 saltwater tanks in my life - both FOWLR - but would like to branch out a bit into some nice soft & hard corals.

Much appreciated!

Red Sea Max tanks are great all in one tanks. It's a decent size and will come with everything you need. As for purchasing a tank...
I would recommend checking out Coral Theory.. they are out in Brooklyn.. easy jump from the city by train. They can hook you up with a Red Sea Max and you can check out their coral selection to boot.
they have one of the 150g RSMs tank there on display.

Good Luck!

Tank is awesome lighting is eeh. Produces a lot of heat and the other con is its all on or all off, no separate actinic from daylight.

Also the stock protein skimmer is ok but there are much better out there to replace it with. The adjustment valve is a cheap plastic type. It is very hard to adjust because it's very tight and feels like it will break if you turn it to hard yet you have to because it is so tight. Plus the slightest adjustment has it go from not collecting skimmate at all to filling the collection cup fast with pee like water.

Other than those 2 things they're awesome. Very sturdily built and well thought out systems. Plus the 1 plug thing is great for an office.
