i'm posting this in hopes that other newbies don't make the same mistake i made on saturday. zoous(warren) came by my house to p/u a sixline. i grabbed the sixline and put him in a zip lock bag. we were talking for a while and when he and his wife were leaving i decided to ask how the sixline was doing. when i looked @ the bag the sixline was floating upside down. i ran to the tank and dumped him back in. unfortunately it didn't make it.

moral of the story don't ever re-use zip lock or any other bags. @ first i thought that bag was were my rbta came but now that i remember correctly i had to tear that bag open. all my bags were from the swap or other reef related p/u. i have no idea what was in that bag that could have caused the sixline to perish.

i felt terrible that warren left empty handed and even more that i lost that beautiful sixline that would have been a great addition to his tank

Why not just use a bucket with a lid? For a few dollars you can get a 5 gallon bucket at HD with a tight lid. More money than a bag but also reusable. I use them to store prepared sw for water changes on my nano.

jejton that wouldnt be advisable for sps.. most sps cannot touch other corals... but for fish only it could work out but be too expensive in the long haul... the best way to go is the bags from the place master linked on here.....

A big bucket would need a lot of water (even if you're just talking a couple of inches in a 5 gallon bucket) and if you're taking water out of someone's tank...they'll find their water level dropping significantly. A small container just to house a fish for a couple of hours isn't a problem filling up. And they won't get squished!
