Yikes!! I'm considering getting a brittle star for my tank after I get a Puffer. I figured since all snails/hermits are likely to become Puffer-food a brittle star is my only possible clean-up crew! :headache: :bigeyes2:

He never eats snails... He took down a cleaner shrimp once, but I think this time he probably ate one of my sea hares... Which is just a shame.

I watched my black brittle star eat an $80 true perc 10 minutes after the pair of percs were bought and acclimated in.

Needless to say, no more black brittles for me.

I have a 6" brittle star too. Though I've never seen it actually killing anything...I've had some chromis and a royal gramma go missing. Woke up and they were gone. Figured my 1" yellow tail damsel couldn't have killed them without leaving a trace so the star must be the culprit. No losses for the last 2 months though. So hopefully my spot feeding it keeps it appeased. Btw I never see it come out even late at night with my flashlight. It just sits under one of my pvs rings with it's legs extended all day. Most boring purchase I've made so far.
