I just bought a really cool gorgonian from aquarium village, i was just curious i don't really have anywhere to put it other then in the sand. is it ok to bury the base in the sand? i actually made sure the base is touching the bottom glass hoping that it will possibly attach to it. just wanted to get your guys opinion on this. thumbs up, thumbs down? thanks

couldnt tell you mike its from australia it has a yellow body with XL white polyps the guy told me it did not rely on light to live, so its actually exactly where you suggested, under a cave with really good flow. it seems alot happier in my tank then it was in theres so i think its doing good.

If it is the species I am thinking of --yellow body with bushy white polyps-- it is def. non-photosynthetic and they generally don't do well long-term unless you go out of your way to feed them. I also wouldn't bury any live tissue under the sand as it will just decay and start rotting up the stalk.

It's a beautiful coral so keep it fed and watch your water quality...I had problems trying to find that delicate balance of keeping it healthy and water quality and I slowly lost it after about a year or so....hopefully yours does better....good luck.
