I have a buddy broke down his tank and gave me a bag of rock in exchange for fixing a light for him.

He brought it to me in a bag without water. I put them in the water only after I finish a lot of errand, say 2 hours. The tank I put them in is a low salinity holding tank so the SG is like 20 ppt. After a week, I move the rock so that they can be fully submerged to cycle. I found couple branches of frog spawn/hammer type polyps surviving in the rocks. My buddy thought they are all dead(because he has not turned on the light for months) except the other ones that he separately
put in another bucket.

What an irony, sometimes we cannot keep them alive when we spent extra effort and time in measuring this and that, keeping all the parameters to expected values ......:scratchch
