My tank has just been diagnosed with cyano. Great!!!. lol. Right now im going to do a water change and use less lighting. Any other suggestions/ tips to reduce the cyano and to hopefully get rid of it completely?

I tried using a turkey bastor and getting as much out as possible. Any other tips?

Thanks

How long has it been running? Are you using R/O water?

Its been running for 3-4 weeks and yes i am using RO.

Ok so I'm assuming there is no livestock in it, right? I would start by leaving the lights off. I'm gonna be cycling a new 110 gallon tank this week and I plan to leave the lights on for awhile (at least 6 weeks) May seem excessive but I've always done it this way with no problems. You will always get an algae bloom but IMO this helps. Start syphoning as much as you can and perform a water change, monitor and keep watching your parameters. Are the cartridges good on your R/O unit and have you check the TDS reading in/out of your unit? Just wondering. Hope this helps.

I have live sand and live rocks in the tank. Cartridges are fine. I'm not sure about the TDS readings though.
