hey guys i had my skimmer running all day and it was performing great...
when the lights shut off and i had my actnics on my skimmer goes nuts...

i woke this morning to an overflowing skimmer.. this is like the 3rd time this has happened any reason why this would happen.. the level in the skimmer chamber is constant and i did not add any top off water into that chamber in fear that it will overflow when i was sleeping... now its just making its own bubbles that rise all the way up to the top of it and is making a dry bubble skimmate any reason why...

i have the output piece sitting above the water not submerged... any help will be greatly appreciated... thanks in advance guys..

Please clarify :type:: If your skimmer is overflowing, there's no way it's making dry skimmate. The skimmer cup will be full of clear tankwater.

How do you control the water level inside the skimmer? Gate valve mod or riser pipe? Either way, I'd drop the level inside the skimmer manually...i.e...open the gate valve until the bubble level drops.

i use the gate valve deanos.. and as of now its produces a bubble skimmate... i guess its gotta take out wateva out of the water 1st and will return back to normal once its done.. i hope.. it dont make any sense why i have absolutely no control watsoever on the skimmer....i have the gate valve opened all the way and the bubbles inside the skimmer are rising all the way up not overflowing but rising.. were if it was functioning normal the bubbles would be very low inside the skimmer.

Even with the gate valve wide open, the bubbles are still rising because there's something in the water increasing surface tension of the bubbles. Additives like Stress Coat are notorious for causing skimmers to overflow.

Maybe your inverts are spawning at night?! :bunnies:

It could be, but you said this has happened repeatedly. Are you repeatedly putting your hands in the tank before lights out and then asking us for reasons why its happening?! Don't make me bring out the guillotine! :skull:
