My 2nd clutch of Ocellaris eggs hatched tonight :flower:

I went down to the tank after lights out (about 1.5 hrs) and I see all this detritus floating all over the place. Upon closer examination I see that it's baby clownfish!! woooohoooo

My wife wants me to set up a 5 or 10 gallon tank for the next clutch and see if we can be successful grandparents. I'm psyched. Joyce Wilkerson, here I come.

LOL, fish food man. Next time I'll be putting in a piece of ceramic tile for the parents to lay their eggs on. This way I can remove the tile on the 8th day and put it in the breeding tank. Much more efficient having the eggs hatch in the breeding tank than trying to save a dozen or two fry.

I wouldn't be surprised if the parents do the :bunnies: within the next two weeks. I've got my work cut out for me. Gotta get the breeding tank set up. No biggie there. Just a 5 or 10, heater, air stone and I'm set. The headache is culturing the rotifers. ugh, not looking forward to that.

i wonder how long it will take for the fry to actually develop... i always wondered that....

Rotifers for three weeks, that's when they should get their stripes. Then I can probably start with cyclopeeze.

That would be a real feat. Ocellaris giving birth to Black percs/ocell. I'd have to keep a couple of those too! :lol2:

russ can't you siphon them out? is that too barbaric?

Not necessary to siphon. I can take a flashlight and a Lee's Specimen Containter and scoop them out. I just wasn't ready to do that yet.

Besides, when I decide to move forward with it, I'd like to have the eggs removed right before hatching. This way I'll have 100% of the fry to start with. Losses are very high in the first few days/week. They gradually taper off as they fry mature.
