how long has ur tank been setup for.... and u said u got a clownfish and engineer gobies i believe.. i dont see any problems with the mix of fish but for my 1st question... and how big is ur tank again...
agreed and if it was to go in ur tank i would hope it would be 1"-2" max... a 45 gallon is not that big of a tank... they do school not like a blue hippo which school young and go there own way when the reach adulthood..:Up_to_som
Small one show up in the 2"-3" range and usually do very well in reef and FO tanks. They don't need schools to do well and actually get along with most of the other tangs.
It's actually a great fish that would probably be better to keep they say a Yellow tang but they don't usually show up that often.
Tony I hate to tell you but most of the tangs that are kept school. The convict tang is just one of them and just like the others they do just fine in the home aquarium alone.
True, they all do, but the convicy schools the most and the longest. Wondering why we never see them in stores or in captivity - I take that back, Atlantis has a few in thier reef.
I would avoid it JMO, but Michael has more fish experience than I (and at least a teenager worth more experience).
The reason you don't see many come in is because they usually ship very bad and the ones that do make it are usually are beat up and don't last long. Actually a # of people in Cal seems to have as I guess since they're so close to Hawaii they get them in better shape.
If you can get one that's in good shape it's a great fish to have as it's very peaciful and does get along with others tangs, which usually is a problem with tangs.
Long term a 45gal tank is to small and you'll need to upgrade it to a large tank, which just like for most tangs should be a 6' tank.
yea, i havent had too much luck with tangs in the past in my tank... so i guess i will hold off cuz im getting less positive feedback than negative... also if i do get a tang ill prolly get a sm kole tang.
