Swc 180 skimmer start up problems?

Lately when I service my skimmer, it gives me alot of start up problems. It's bad to the point that I have to totally take it apart, then put it back together just to get it going again. I've heard that alot of reefers that own this skimmer always upgrade the pump because the factory pump is known to have this problem. If anyone else that has this skimmer has this same problem lmk.

i don't have a swc skimmer. but i have heard of this problem with the swc 160 but thought the pump used on the 180 didn't have this issue.

It definitely does. I haven't had the skimmer long at all is what's crazy. It went from doing it once or twice to now always doing it. I'm about ready to sell it now

its the pump that comes with it.. its crap its a great skimmer

That's what I've heard. But I was told that theres an upgraded pump for it

that is really unfortunate, it's not what i consider an inexpensive item. so, what are the recommended replacement/upgrade pumps for the swc 160's and 180's and what is involved with the switch outs such as required mods and neccessary connection adaptors?
