does anyone know if using the money saver feature on an a/c will decrease it's life? I have a large 35,000 window unit. when it comes on it does not sound gentle. with the money saver it can come on and off pretty frequently, is this bad for it?

thanks,

J

Well electric is part of my maintance and we get a big break because of the 5 buildings so it's not that bad. I don't run it hardly as the other a/c cools off everything.

It's a WhiteWesting House and I think the rating was a 6.0, which was pretty good at the time. I think new ones run in the 9-11 range now. I think a new one would probably be about $150 but this one really cools the room fast, it's somewhat noisy, so I just keep it in the window waiting for it to fail.

J,
I would rather run it on the energy saver mode for the reason that if you leave it on cool and the AC reaches it's set point, then the compressor will shut down but continue to blow in the outside air unless you have a exhaust (in/out) switch or lever.
