They have these plastic things that you may find at home depot .If you could raise it slightly with some of the water out and stored in buckets so you could put it back in and stick as many as these things in different corners you might be able to slide it.these rings are to move heavy things but you have to be able to stick them underneath.I slid one of those big old radiators across brand new hardwood floors with this.hope it gives you some ideas.

I had to do this many years ago when I move and about 5 years ago when I changed over my big tanks.

The question is how long is it going to take once you move the tank to tile the room. If it's only going to be a day or two you should get some rubbermaid container and place the water, corals and rock and run a filter. Then you can reset the tank back up and place everything back into the tank. If it's going to be longer you then want to move everything into the rubbermaid containers but setup the lights and probably the skimmer. If possible you may want to give you corals, fish and inverts to some one to hold in their tank while you're puting the tile down.

I moved a 180 about 6 monthes ago. It took me the full 6 monthes to get it back up and running. I had all my stuff stored in RubberMaids and live stock all over the city with various reefer friends. It was a huge pain but worth it in the long run.

I moved last year ,i have a 90 gal with 200lbs of rock ,stocked with over 30 corals and 10 fish ,and a tons of inverts.I had help from 2 friends (i wasnt a member yet on MR ) well it took me 5 hrs to move this from the 2nd fl to the 6th fl ,i lost no live stock except 2 head for a torch .after the move my tank was actually better cuz i got rid of all my big fish and it a good time to reAquascape your tank .

Just make sure you have about 40 to 50 gal for the just in case ,make sure it ready mixed with salt ..Have rubber maid buckets ready to drain you tank water into and place your live stock in it with a power head ,,and make sure the temp is good in the water when you are moving

what about the sand bed? i think for my 16g I will just leave a layer of water on the top of the substrate when I move it- but what about a larger tank where you probably have to take it out?

Can you reuse the sand (if its not a DSB anyway)? It seems a shame to waste all those nice organisms that have built up their populations in there..it could take a while w/ a new sandbed to have the benefits of the LS..

funny you ask ,I left the bottem layer of rock and all the sand with 2inchs of water :flower: me and a friend ,lifted the tank ,with ropes .we put one under one side and one on the other ,lifted the tank and onto dolly ,tannk .stand ,canopy and all the hook up at one time ..everythng worked out better then expected .just be careful .I also had about 70 gals of water ready in the top apt soi didnt have to carry all the water up ,mde thing alot easier
