Upon dosing calcium additives, will the PH goes higher or lower and how soon the reaction will take place? Do we see immediate effects or over a period time?

Hmm.... I think I followed the instructions.
Sighhhhh never fond of using chemicals, so confusing for a confused person:smash: to start with.

thanks

Not sure about all addiatives, but with the addition of kalk, you can have an immeidiate increase in PH, which can cause an immediate precipitation. I have accidently dosed a larger than normal amount of Kalk, only to walk out of the room and come back a minute later and find that my tank is compeltely cloudy.

I don't think this is your problem. This type of precipitation is rarely the cause of any deaths, and will usually clear up within a day or so, without any yellowing of the water. When this does happen, you will notice a sharp drop in Alkalinity, due to the carbonate precipitation. Calcium levels usally will not show a drop of more than 50ppm (if that). For the life of me I can't recall at this time, what happens to your PH after the event. As indicated it can be and usally is caused by an immeidate increase in PH. I beleive that PH will drop during the precipitation, but will remain higher than normal.

I would say either the scallop or the anemone died and fouled up the water. what caused the death will probably remain a mystery but I would do a 100% water change and re cure that rock.

ditto.

two things. was the sponge you used brand new?
there could have been something in the rocks that died and just funked up your water. did you ever find the brittle star? was it big?

sorry to hear.

This is exactly what happened in my case, before the green nightmare, i couldnt rid the water of the yellow, than green tint, it was very frustrating...I still to this day do no know what caused it just that algone cleared it all up ....I am leaning also towards the rocks although, many people said that in my situation and i dont think that was the case....

Try making your tank a simple as possible right now, i took everything out of my sump (media, rocks etc..) cleaned tubings, put a better skimmer on etc....run for 24/7 if you havent already....and water changes, it it keeps coming back even after the water changes than something is def not right....

Chris there's nothing in this tank he used it for unwanteds and curing rock. No loss scrub the rocks, 100% water change and let the rocks cycle the curing tank again. If you're curing rock you're suposed to do frequent W/C's anyway.

Yup this is a tank where only the killers and such are here and for curing of rocks.

I would scrub the rocks and redo the whole tank again once I drop down all the events for another couple more days.
