yup...i got a small simple 12v solenoid valve with "in" and "out" for my pipe work. will adjust to fit the tubes of my rodi system.. attach my float swith to it and set to my desired water level.. should be a piece of cake.. besides whats the worst that can happen? lol

I am not a fan of using an RO unit for top off "directly".

If you have a RO unit with a TDS built in, then check it when you activate it check in and then out. At least my water supply, when it first starts up my TDS are up at over 100 in, and 0 out. So the DI is doing the job to get rid of the TDS, but the starting and stopping of the RO Unit for small batches will BURN up your DI resin in no time.

When i run my RO for a few minutes the TDS in will drop to about 6-8. So large batches of water actually conserve the DI in my case.

And what is the worst that can happen? Well if for any reason the float fails then the RO unit will produce water infinitely until you see it, then overflowing your sump and reducing your salinity.

So if you decide to do it, you need to have a second float to deactivate the solenoid.

It is probably just easier and safer to run a standard Top off, meaning a small reservoir and a pump with the float switch.

Just my opinion....

i had a few floods becuz i forgot to turn my rodi system off..only found out that it was on when it was to late. thank god i was home when it happened..but im finish with my build..i put two float switches in series so that both needs to be actitvated to turn on the valve but only one needs to be deactivated to turn the solenoid off.now its water proof everything and ill install when i get home.. wish me luck lol

i have ato plumbed directly from my rodi. i have 110v solinoid valve on 7 day timer and then it goes to float valve that i have mounted in the sump for fail safe and i have set the timer to come on for 1 hour every sunday and i have one ato mounted in sump with tom's aqua lifter pump that feeds my sump. i like running this pump because its quiet and it dose slowly and does not dump all the water at once

i completed hooking directly to my rodi unit and it kicks in whenever the water get below my desired level. works fine but my float switch is to sensitive to the flowing water in the sump. sump water is a lil bit to bumpy for that switch. so it switches on and off a few times until the water level rises. today ill be changing the switch or decreasing my water flow so the water is more smooth...I"ll get it perfect with a few adjustments..i have a 110v solinoid also but im going to switch it to a low voltage, maybe a 24.
