I get what your saying about it draining alot of water when I turn the pump off. to clarify, this is not the overflow, but the return pipe pushing water into the tank, so I dont think it needs to maintain a siphon like an overflow does?

i plan on drilling the tank with a glass holes kit.

Ah, I see that you posted it was a return now. You don't have to worry about it losing siphon in that case. I would raise it up though, and change out those metal clamps. They sell plastic ones as well. Those are the clamps you want.

getting closer, sprayed the backround using gloss krylon and had the boys over at my LFS (aquarium village) drill the tank for the drain and return. Used the super nano kit from glass holes.com and used aquarium village for the return. went with a dual spray bar to break the water surface and direct more flow to SPS. Im super happy with it. now its a TRUE RIMLESS!

im also going bare bottom as I want to make this a dedicated SPS tank. Im moving in the next 6 months and plan on going with a 120. So my game plan is to keep this 30cube as a SPS only tank and keep mostly softies in the 120 and better fish diversity.

in a way it was a blessing in disguise..... if the glass shattered while glueing, that means it was too thin.
i have seen the back panel shattered when my buddy was working in the sump and bumped into the drain pipe....with full livestock in it..... wasn't pretty.
