LED bulbs from Home Depot

Has anyone used the LED light bulbs from home depot in the fuge to grow chaeto. Figured i would ask to lower power consumptionon my system if even by a little bit

If you have to go that route, use the one that has the coolest white. Last time, I saw they have 4000K(neutral white). 6,7000K specialty ones are better but 4,000K is sufficient.

I use those 13-15w compact fluorescent bulbs over my Refug...no problem growing chaeto, macro algae, and mangroves

Actually to grow algae, the best is around 5000K, which is a fairly yellow light. When it comes to choices, look for the number of lumen output, compared to the size, etc, to fit your needs. Some of them can be chained which is great to scale depending on your refugium size. Some also come with a puck that lets you change light intensity.

I use the Philips LED bulb and have had no ill effect

ok sounds good.albano i use that light now. figured if i can use a LED with less wattage then that it might help a bit
