i have a 120g tank my nitrate is always about 30 ppms how can i get it down i do 15 gal water change a week with r/o water, i have a lot of live rock a 3 inch sand bed ,a refugium with cheato and not to may fish oh yeh and a great skimmer is there any bacteria i can buy to add more to my tank or how about a nitrate reactor does anyone know what i sould do

Check your refugium. They can be a source of nitrates if you dont have the right animals living in it (bristle worms, cucumbers, sand sifters, etc...) they prevent dietrus buildup and keep nauseous gas pockets from forming. Also check to see if you have any dead water spots in your tank. places where no flow goes and its total stagnant water where fish dietrus and food rot to foul the water. i made both these mistakes and paid the price for it. also make sure your alage is not trapping dietrus, shake it out, as well as clean your prefilter. Also if you have a filter like a fluval get rid of it, as well as maintain strong skimming.
