Anyone here currently running a rotifer culture?

hey, is anyone here currently running a rotfer culture or has ran a successful culture?

ive just started my culture on monday and i feel like its not doing good.

luckily a MR member named jay hooked me up with some more live rotifers

i have a 5 gallon container running with a bubbler and a heater and since monday i feel like the water hasn't changed in color at all and when i go to scoop some water in a glass to see how the rotifers are doing, it looks like nothing is moving, ive seen videos on youtube of rotifers actually swimming, mine are not swimming, there more like just going with the flow of the water.

anyone able to help or give me pointers or even come by and check out my setup? my clowns eggs are about 3 days from hatching and i need the rotifers

i feed them two a day and remove about 5 to 10 percent daily. I also do a water change once to twice a week. look at them under a 10x lupe.

hey reef, yea so they would be noticeable over a magnifying glass right?
like i said, i have mine running and stuff, with no lights on, and i feel like there dieing, now you just throw away the 5-10% daily water? or do you run it threw a filter and put the rotifers into your tank?

i have a little air thru a rigid air line. is sounds like the are not getting enough food. if you fill a test vile or test tube. look at it with a bright light behind it.with the lupe, you should see them swimming around. look into roti-grow or live phytoplankton.

also whatever i remove from the rotifer bucket, i feed my baby clowns.

got it ill check it out when i get home, yea im confused about the airline, i went out and bought two little air stone that make a lot of bubbles, showed there be a lot of bubbles? only a few? cause i see some people have a ton of bubles that create like foam on top and i see some people that dont even have bubbles, maybe like 1 or 2

no air stones. a few bubbles per minute. just enough to move the water.

I just did a 1 gallon water change, it looks like o got some progres, i scooped a cup out and notice a lot more white specs than before. I just scooped out the 1 gallon for a water change but u didnt run it threw the coffe filter thing, i took 16oz of that gallon and put it in my fridge just to see what happens

make sure you coffee filter thing is 53 micron. anything too big and the rotifers will pass right thru.

yes i got my starter kit from adnup.com
i just purchased a bottle of live phytoplankton because the one i recieved in the starter kit was small

if that does not work, try florida aqua farms. that is who i use.
