I dunno how sensitive either one of you are to noise but maybe that may be something to take into consideration as well and get input on a quiet system as well. Just keep in mind what is quiet to one person may not be quiet to you.

My tank in my room was loud but it helped me sleep.

Cost can range from pretty affordable for something used all the way up to Elos territory.

Good point, my wife asked me to get a system that makes some noise as she likes the (white noise as she calls it) and that helps her sleep. Better than sleeping with the TV on (I hate that, LOL) I don't mind a little noise. Thanks.

Been there...Done that!...never again...PITA with noise, maintenance, and do you really want to show your tank to friends/guests...in your bedroom?

I hear you albano, but I'm already building a tank (show tank) in my living room. It's cycling as we speak (120 seamless bowfront from Aqua Vim) I know it will be an inconvenience as far as maintenance so I have to take that into consideration. Thanks for bringing that up though.

Maybe a good idea to let her hear the sounds the other tank makes before you set one up and find out it prompts trips to use the facilities during the night...white noise machines don't require water changes ;)

I have a tank in my room and it is dead silent, It all depends on the tank you buy and how it is set up. A few people on here have seen the tank and some thought I had the return pump shut off.
