"Triggerfishes range in average size from about three to twelve inches, with some larger species reaching up to 14 or 16 inches, and a few growing to about two feet."

I think the smallest Trigger would be about 6"-8" range with maybe the Red tail being about the smallest. Most Triggers get pretty large and if your feeding them correctly they will grow pretty fast.

nycitaliano9 to have a Trigger for 8 months and not to see a lot of growth is not good. What type of Trigger do you have and what have you been feeding it and how much.

Here's info somebody found on this 3'' Trigger:

Xenobalistes punctatus - the Outrigger Triggerfish. The smallest member of the family at under four inches total length. Southeast Atlantic off South Africa. Pelagic, associated with flotsam.

There's very little info on them on-line and no photos.

Maybe he hasn't grown to you because you see him every day and don't notice his growth kinda like with hair, when you see someone every day you don't notice how long their hair is til they cut it.
