I am sorry to say I ordered 2 times from BZ and both times all the fish either arrived dead or died by the next morning. the customer service was great and I believe my experience to be an anomoly.

thats just my experience, and to be fair they where difficult to ship fish.

I ordered from them.

First order arrived dead(pair of true percs) one was D.O.A, one died during drip acclimation. Knew it was going to.

Called them was reimbursed by coupon code.

With that coupon I ordered a sand sifting cleaning crew, diamond goby, 2 fire shrimp, 2 cleaner shrimp, a sea cucumber and a Randall's pistol. All doing well still.

They were super nice, apologetic and were happy to get pics I sent them of the clowns to prove they had passed(were going to take my word for it).
I'd definitely say go with them, worth the money in my eyes. I will be ordering from them again in the future.

With all the local vendors we have in this community, I see almost no point in ordering livestock from an online vendor.

There are tons of great stores. Some are even in Brooklyn.

Yes I agree with you, there is a store near me on Ave U& east 13th I have to say that there fish look super healthy & I did buy from the 2 fish so far but they are almost double in price from the online guys.
If I?m looking to get one fish ill go local, but if I?m looking to get 2 and up and some inverts & other stuff then I go on line.

Its just like with salt petco's price on Reef Crystals (the box) is $90 & on line we can get it for $49

Most LFS prices are comparable to online vendors, from what I've seen. They may be a bit more expensive, but it's (IMO) worth it to see the overall health, not risk shipping, and to support local businesses.

I've found buckets of RC salt for $50 or $60 locally as well.

Easily said Eric, except when nobody on here had true percs, they did and I was ready to stock a new tank I'm not gonna wait a month staring at an empty tank.

ask Russ-masterswimmer ALL of my first tank, my sand, my equipment, my salt, my fish, clean up crew, inverts and corals were from him. I would drive upstate to House Of Laughters place 3 hour round trip to support vendors on here. I wish LFS or vendors always had what I was looking for, then there would be 0 reason to go elsewhere, but nfortunately thats sometimes not the case.

My only point in saying all that is sometimes you need to venture out due to non-availability

Ariel you order your stock from where you want. Enjoy what you get.

I got 4 Sunset Anthias from them on Weds. They all seemed ok when arrived and after drip acclimation. I added them to tank but only 1 of them has started to poke his head out from behind the rocks as of last night... I saw the tail of a second one but haven't seen all 4 yet. I think they're just shy still...

Agreed! They don't always have what you're looking for when you want it. I wanted to add all my tangs to my tank at the same time. I went to Fishtown USA Sunday and they had Naso's, Blonde Naso's and Convicts (3 out of 4 I was looking for) so I went ahead and bought them. If they didn't I would have ordered online to get them all at once.

I would rather see what I'm buying first. See if it is healthy and eating and active. You can't see those things online. And all you have to do is call The lfs's around you and see what they have. Almost any of them can order what you want. I have only waited 2 weeks tops for any fish I was hunting for with one exception. I waited 2 years to get one of them.

Ive also bought fish that seemed healthy, gotten home and they die a few days later. Seeing them makes no difference other than you can see them eat. Theres never any guarantee on ANY livestock surviving.
I like my chances better if I can see them. Had 2 fish I ordered one from DD and one from another source. The DD lasted one day past the live guarantee then dropped the other one had no guarantee because of where it was coming from and price and it died 2 days after arrival. I knew it was doomed when I saw it in the bag, eyes were bulging and it was almost pure white with no color and you could see it's bones. Never again will I order online.

Im not telling anyone where to buy anything, just throwing it out there that there are tons of good local stores, and seeing fish in person is a good thing, if you know what to look for.

And I also didnt say there is never a reason to order online. Of course there is. I almost bought a rather expensive angel online (from Divers Den) but it was somewhat rare and not seen everyday.

I know you well enough to know you weren't trying to influence. It just sucks sometimes when there are so many vendors to choose from and none have what you're looking for.

Amazing how usually commonly available fish will all of a sudden be impossible to find.

Stop by Maxium Reef in Yonkers. The prices are unbelieveable .You will still save money from the cost of gas. Plus they have lots of fish in stock. Plus the fish are healthily. You can pick the fish you like. A much better deal without paying shipping.
